What it does
Pick any color with the HSV picker or paste a hex code, and HueWiz instantly builds matching palettes — complementary, analogous, triadic, split-complementary, tetradic, and monochromatic — with copy-ready hex, RGB, and HSL values for every swatch. Beyond the picker itself, HueWiz includes an image color extractor, a color mixer, contrast-ratio checks for accessibility, and a full library of named colors, each with its own reference page.
How color matching works
Colors are matched by rotating the base hue around the color wheel. A complement sits 180° away for maximum contrast; analogous colors sit about 30° apart for a calm, cohesive feel; triadic colors are spaced 120° apart for a balanced, vibrant scheme. Privacy by design
Every calculation — color matching, image color extraction, contrast ratios — runs entirely in your browser. No color you pick or image you upload is ever sent to a server, and no account is required.
Who creates and maintains HueWiz
Ed Vaquerano is the creator, publisher, and maintainer of HueWiz. Ed develops the color tools, reviews the educational guides, investigates reported problems, and decides what is published. HueWiz is an independent personal project based in California, US; no physical street address or public office is listed.
SilverCodeLabs has been used as a project label for Ed’s software work, but it is not presented here as an incorporated or registered business. HueWiz’s accountable publisher is Ed Vaquerano. HueWiz is free and requires no account. Advertising may support hosting and maintenance while the core color tools remain freely available.
How we test and review HueWiz
Ed Vaquerano is responsible for HueWiz’s code, calculations, guides, and corrections. Automated checks verify internal links, canonical URLs, structured data, form labels, JavaScript syntax, and sitemap entries before a release. The color tools are also tested with known reference values: black on white must produce a 21:1 WCAG contrast ratio, identical colors must produce 1:1, and borderline results are classified using the unrounded ratio.
Generated palettes are design suggestions rather than accessibility certifications. Each guide distinguishes measured results from design advice and links to primary documentation where a standard or framework is discussed. Funding and editorial independence
